This is an exceptional, original WWII U.S. Military M5 Protective Ointment Kit Container. This is the sought-after late-war production variant, finished in its original, vibrant Olive Drab (OD) green paint rather than the earlier blue-grey lacquer.

This particular container features the late-war “V-type” wire flip-latch mechanism, which remains crisp, snappy, and fully functional. Originally designed to hold individual tubes of M5 skin ointment and Anti-Lewisite eye ointment for chemical warfare decontamination, these tins are highly collectible artifacts of WWII field gear.
