AW. Faber – Castell, Stein Bei Nürnberg Gegründet 1761

This is a paper box on Nr 21/15 lead (I believe.)  As you can see by the pictures, there are 4 tubes with short lead (I believe) in them.  This has great color.  There is some words missing on the label as you see in the picture.

The House of Faber-Castell traces its origins to Stein, a town near Nuremberg, Germany. This entrepreneurial noble family established the Faber-Castell AG in 1761 and later founded the Nürnberger Versicherung in 1884¹. Here are some key points about their fascinating history:

2. Merger and New Name:
   • Johann Lothar, Freiherr von Faber, a descendant of the Faber family, married Baroness Ottilie, who was from the House of Castell-Rüdenhausen.
   • The merger of the Faber and Castell-Rüdenhausen families led to the creation of the new company name: Faber-Castell. Count Alexander changed his name to Alexander von Faber-Castell¹.
3. Quality and Innovations:
   • In 1905, Alexander von Faber-Castell introduced the pencil brand “Castell” for exceptionally high-quality pencils.
   • Roland von Faber-Castell (1905–1978), the last sole heir to the Faber-Castell fortune, successfully merged the companies Faber-Castell and Johann Faber.
   • The “Castell” mark became synonymous with excellence in pencil craftsmanship¹.
4. Challenges and Legacy:
   • Anton-Wolfgang Graf von Faber-Castell (1941–2016), Roland’s son, served as CEO and the family’s representative for nearly 40 years in the eighth generation.
   • Despite challenges, including family dynamics and antisemitic attacks, the Faber-Castell legacy endured.
