Vintage Small Footed (Oak?) Chest – Jewelry or Trinket Box with Scene
This chest is believed to be oak, but not positive. It is 10 1/2″ long, 6 1/3″ deep, and 4 1/2″ tall. It has a carved top and front with the sides and back smooth. On the stop there is a scene of water, trees, and an old house.
You can tell the age of this by the scene on top. Notice the corners. Although they aren’t a dovetail, they are very similar.
Strangely, it has one hole drilled into the bottom on the right side and two areas on that side where it appears there was a shelf, but not on the left side. Perhaps for a music box? The top is a red felt-type material. The front of the felt material needs to be glued back down as it has come loose.
It also has a spot on the front where there was a clasp that is long gone.
I believe it to be made around the 50s as many were. It is in remarkable shape for its age.
